Rising Star – Academic Award

This award recognises a young academic woman of colour who has shown exceptional promise through her research and scholarly activities.

Award Criteria

This award is open to all women of colour who meet the following criteria:
– 5 years in academia following the completion of a PhD (inclusive of any career breaks or caring responsibilities)
– Conducted influential academic research or scholarly activities with the potential for significant impact
– Actively engaged in academic community initiatives and demonstrated leadership among peers
– Shown promise through academic achievements, awards, or formal recognitions

Nominations are open to anyone who wishes to recognise a deserving woman of colour in STEM. This can include colleagues, mentors, peers, or the nominees themselves. To nominate someone, please fill out the nomination form.

Winners are selected by an independent judging panel comprising experts and leaders in STEM fields. They will review all nominations and assess them based on the criteria outlined for each category.
