Are you ready to step onto the soapbox and share your passion for science with the world? Soapbox Science Sydney 2025 is calling for dynamic women in STEM to take center stage and showcase their research to the public. Our unique platform strips back the barriers between scientists and society, inviting you to present your work at the iconic Circular Quay.

Why You Should Apply: Soapbox Science isn't just another scientific conference; it's an innovative public outreach platform that promotes the visibility of women in STEM, bringing science to the sidewalks and engaging with an audience that spans from the curious child to the intrigued adult. This is your chance to step out of the lab or office and into the limelight, sharing the excitement and importance of your work with a diverse and often unintentional audience.

Looking for Inspiration? We understand that the idea of public engagement on this scale can be daunting. That's why we encourage you to check out examples from previous years' events. Our website https://stemsisters.org.au/soapbox-science-melbourne/ features videos from past speakers who took the plunge and found their voice on the soapbox. You'll see firsthand the enthusiasm of the crowds, the variety of topics covered, and the innovative ways speakers have communicated complex ideas in an accessible manner. Let their experiences inspire and motivate you to craft your own unique message.

How to Apply:

We're looking for EOIs (Expressions of Interest) from women in STEM across all disciplines and career stages. Whether you're a PhD student making your first foray into public engagement or a seasoned professor with years of research under your belt, we want to hear from you. To apply, simply submit your EOI before Friday the 2nd May 2025.

This is your opportunity to make a significant impact, not only in promoting your research but also in challenging stereotypes and inspiring the next generation of scientists. Join us, and let's make science accessible to everyone!

Best,

Ruwangi
